Beware of the Beach

Homeless California parolee dragged female jogger by ponytail on beach in attempted sexual assault: police

A HOMELESS MAN ON PAROLE FOR AN ASSAULT CONVICTION DRAGGED A JOGGER BY HER HAIR ON A BEACH near Los Angeles before attempting to rape her earlier this week, police said.

The alleged incident occurred at around 7:15 a.m. on the Ocean Front Walk in Santa Monica. Witnesses told a 911 dispatcher that a woman, who lives in nearby Venice Beach, was being dragged on the ground by her ponytail.

She was jogging southbound on the beach path when the suspect grabbed her ponytail from behind, knocking her to the ground, authorities said.

Responding officers found the woman and the suspect, identified as Malcolm Jimmy Ward, Jr., 48, near some restrooms, the Santa Monica Police Department said. Several witnesses intervened in the attack, police said.

See what happens when sharks can walk?
The woman wasn't injured. At the time, Ward was on parole for assault with a deadly weapon.

Investigators believe Ward was trying to sexually assault the woman. He has been charged with kidnapping, assault with intent to commit rape and violating his parole.

He is being held with no bail.

The alleged crime mirrors an incident in New York City where a man was caught on surveillance cameras throwing a looped belt around a woman's neck before choking her unconscious and dragging her away on a dark Bronx street.

Police arrested 39-year-old Kashaan Parks over the weekend for allegedly attacking the 45-year-old victim.

You've made your bed, now die in it

Video shows cops holding a mom down in bed of fire ants as they attacked her face and she pleaded for help

A MOM IS SUING THE CITY OF SANTA FE, TEXAS, AFTER POLICE HANDCUFFED HER AND HELD HER INTO A BED OF FIRE ANTS, her attorney claims.

Taylor Rogers says she was “tortured” by Santa Fe Police Department officers in 2021 when they arrested her after she reportedly tried to make an illegal turn in a school parking lot.

She says officers pulled her from her car, with her 9-year-old son in the vehicle, and held her down into the anthill.

“Ants are on my face, ants are getting on my face, please!” Ms Rogers could be heard yelling in a police bodycam video shared with KHOU 11. “How can y’all do this? Ants are on my face! Please let go!”

The video, shared by civil rights attorney Randall Kallinen after announcing a civil lawsuit against the city, showed part of the arrest from police body cam. Photos of Ms Rogers with rashes supposedly from the ants were held up as well during a press conference on Saturday. She had numerous red marks covering her face from where she said she was attacked.

"Taylor Rogers was stopped by Santa Fe police for no reason, thrown on the ground right into a bed of fire ants in the middle of the day and then held there while screaming," Mr Kallinen said during the briefing.

“Is it torture? Yeah that’s a strong word but I call it torture,” the attorney continued. "When the police hold you down in a fire ant bed and you’re saying fire ants and screaming, and they keep you there, what is that?"
Where the hell was Mr. Rogers?

Santa Fe Independent School District Police have denied the accusations against them, with Chief Ruben Espinoza telling KHOU 11 that Ms Rogers became irate when he tried to pull her over.

"When she [the officer] gave the description of the vehicle, I immediately knew who it was. So, I approached the intersection and observed Miss Rogers fleeing," Chief Espinoza told the outlet.

"She was also passing a vehicle in the grassy area on the right side when I tried to get in front of her to stop. She didn’t put her vehicle in reverse and fled from me.”

Ms Rogers claims she didn’t stop because she was scared, as an officer had pounded on her car and pointed a gun at her.

Police also argued there were no fire ants nearby and that they treated the woman with respect and dignity.

The mother later pleaded guilty to the charges of fleeing police filed against her and the officers were found to have acted appropriately.

Ms Rogers said that they need to be disciplined for what she described as “torture.”

"While I forgive those officers for their actions that day, I refuse to remain silent in the face of a violation of my son’s and my civil rights," she added in her prepared statement.

The Independent has approached the Santa Fe ISD Police Department for further comment, but is yet to receive a response.

Do You Want Flies With That?

What Uber driver-turned spree killer killed because he claimed the Devil spoke to him through his Uber app?

On a single night in February 2016, six people were killed in Kalamazoo County, Michigan by a man named Jason Dalton. Dalton opened fire in seemingly random locations around the city: an apartment complex, outside a restaurant, and in a car dealership.

"Answer the phone, bitch!" barked Satan.
When police arrested Dalton - a man with no prior history of mental illness - he claimed that his Uber mobile app had driven him to commit the mass shootings. Dalton said that the Uber symbol reminded him of the sigil of the Order of the Eastern Star (a Masonic Fraternity) and that it took control of his entire body. He said that when he pushed the app on his phone, a new app popped up and the Devil spoke directly to him through the screen. Apparently, his app switched from black to red, and that's when the Devil was in control. He told police:
"I just tapped it and then there was like a devil head that popped up. It was some sort of like horned, horned head like a cow head or something. When I tapped that, it said that I could say whatever I wanted to. There would be no repercussions. When it's in that black mode, it literally has control of you. It would do a little blink at me. The minute that the app went from black to red, it had my presence."

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared

A 21-YEAR-OLD SHOT HIS STEPMOTHER AS SHE WENT IN TO HUG HIM
at his charter school graduation ceremony, New Mexico police say.

Cristian Bencomo was booked into jail on Wednesday, May 8, accused of shooting his stepmother, the Albuquerque Police Department said in a post on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Officers responded to the Albuquerque Convention Center shortly after 5 p.m. on Wednesday for reports of gunfire, Gilbert Gallegos, the department’s communications director, said in a video posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Officers initially thought they were responding to an active shooter situation but later learned a single gunshot was fired, Gallegos said.

The investigation revealed that Bencomo’s stepmother “started to hug him,” and he pulled out a “handgun and shot her in the neck,” police said.

"Maybe he's not a hugger," said The Creeper.
“We made it all the way through graduation – it was really lovely until it wasn’t,” Mary Ward, a witness, told KOB 4 Eyewitness News.

Ward told the news outlet that the students were told to give a rose to someone in the audience.

“I was watching my student, she was coming to the right of me, then I looked to the left, to the other side, there was a crowd of people and then there was a big pop,” Ward said, the outlet reported.

With more than 100 people in attendance at the charter school graduation, Gallegos said “there was a lot of … chaos at the time.”

Nonetheless, police said “bystanders held (Bencomo) until officers arrived.”

The woman was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Gallegos. She underwent “hours of surgery,” according to the organizers of a GoFundMe, who said she will need continued medical treatment and rehab.

Angel Chester, the woman’s sister, was close by when the shooting happened, KRQE News reported. Chester told the station she witnessed Bencomo stomp on her sister’s head following the shooting.

“I keep thinking that it’s a bad dream that I’ll wake up from,” Chester told the outlet.

Bencomo is facing multiple counts, including aggravated assault and aggravated battery, online jail records show. He is being held without bail.

Police are still investigating the shooting, according KOAT-TV.

“I suspect that there was a lot of maybe photos or video or witnesses so anyone who doesn’t talk to detectives here on scene is urged to call APD 242-COPS. 505-242-COPS,” Gallegos told the outlet.

What murderous teen claimed to be a 500-year-old vampire named Vesago?

Rod Ferrell was a murderer and self-proclaimed cult leader from Murray, Kentucky. Ferrell, born in 1980, murdered at age 16, branding his victims with a "V" mark to signify the murder was the work of his vampire cult.

In 1996, Rod and two accomplices broke into the home of Naomi and Richard Wendorf. While Richard was sleeping, Ferrell bludgeoned him to death with a crowbar, fracturing his ribs and skull. He then found Naomi asleep in another room, but Naomi awoke and threw hot coffee at her attacker. Ferrell got the upper hand and bludgeoned her to death in the same way as he had her husband.

Who throws hot coffee
at a vampire?

Ferrell and his accomplices then drove through four different states over the next four days. One of Ferrell's accomplices had called her grandmother while they were in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the grandmother informed the police of their whereabouts. They were promptly detained in Louisiana and extradited to Florida.

The victims were the parents of a girl named Heather Wendorf, a friend of Ferrell's. Ferrell's motive for the murder was that he was helping his friend escape from her home life. Ferrell was sentenced to death for his role in the murder, making him the youngest ever prisoner on death row. However, this sentence was later changed to life imprisonment.
